Online scam artists are always looking for ways to cheat people and steal money. Here are some tips to help you protect your online accounts -
Avoid using Internet Explorer, use Firefox or Opera specially to manage your online payment processor accounts and transactions.
Use different email address for your Payment Processor accounts and to sign-up and register in other programs. By using a separate e-mail address only for your payment processor accounts you'll be able to avoid most of those dangerous phishing emails and virus attached mails. NEVER register any other account with the same account name & password as per your processor/e-mail account.
Avoid signing up with the same username in all programs.
Do not use your Social Security number as a username or password.
Never use the same password in multiple programs. Always use Strong Password, we recommend to use at least 6 characters long and a combination of lowercase-uppercase letters, numbers and special characters such as * / + - ? ! @ # $ % ^ &.
Change your passwords for e-mail, processor and other important accounts regularly.
Don't write down sensitive personal information or share them with anyone.
ALWAYS make sure you are on the Original Site not on any Phishing Site before entering any user details.
Always use secure websites for transactions and shopping. Look for Security Lock Symbol on your browser or https:// in the address bar of the website. That "s" after http indicates secure and means the web page uses encryption.
Avoid logging in to your online processor/bank accounts from public computer. Conduct online banking activities on secure computers ONLY! Public computers such as computers at internet cafes, schools, etc. should be used with extreme caution. Logging in to processor account or making any kinda transaction should only be conducted on a computer you know to be safe and secure.
Resist using free wireless connections particularly in cafes, airports and other public places to check personal information.
Avoid giving your personal information to cold callers and other unknown parties online, via e-mail and over the phone.
Always log out from your processor accounts when you are done using them. Log out using the dedicated links rather than simply closing the account window to prevent unauthorized access to your account information!
NEVER click on any link in emails to go to your processor account or that asking for account update, even if it looks genuine!!! Beware of those phishing emails.
